A Stormy Malfunction?

I'm still going to stick with my original guess of a cap, as to why we saw the storm free area that is circled here. A cap in weather terms is when the air high in the atmosphere becomes too warm to allow the warm air on the ground to rise. If that air doesn't rise and cool air from aloft isn't there to replace it then there is no storm. So there you go.... my best explainable reason as to why all of you got ready for a storm, and those north of KC got hit and those south had this beautiful windy fall day, which I enjoyed greatly might I add!
