Destruction of the South

Our thoughts and prayers go out to the families of the victims of the tornado outbreak yesterday. There are reports of at least 40 injuries and 8 confirmed dead at this time including a 7 year old child. Many homes have been completly destroyed and countless others damaged. It is unknown if anyone is still missing at this time.
A total of 27 tornado reports that span 5 states were logged yesterday. I have included a map of all reports and of confirmed tornadoes in the heavily damaged area. (There were also a few reported in Indiana and Illinois)
The national weather service will be sending crews to assess the damage this morning and will give us a better look at the wind speeds inside the tornadoes. If the path is confirmed to be one single tornado it will be by far the longest tracking tornado to ever touch down in December at over 150 miles in length.
